Disputing Tax Liens
Know that tax liens are NOT very important for credit scores.
However, it can make a difference when your credit report is reviewed MANUALLY by underwriters in cases of obtaining a mortgage or other situations.
Paying a tax lien does not get you a removal from the file. However, it is possible to have a credit score over 700 with tax liens.
Just make sure that they are being reported as PAID. Those who use MyFico should note that they are not very good with public records.
On many occasions you may have public records showing "paid" with the credit bureaus but showing "not paid" on MyFICO. Make sure you stay on top of this matter.
