Adding Authorized Users
What happens when you add an authorized user to a credit card?
There are two factors to consider before adding someone to your credit card account.
Firstly, be aware that you become 100% legally liable for all purchases and costs of that authorized user. If any late payments are made, it will affect your scores directly even if you didn't use the card yourself.
Secondly, the credit card account will appear as a revolving account for the authorized user, perhaps helping their scores, depending if they need to build credit or not. Simply adding a person doesn't necessarily mean their scores will jump up. It is all on a case by case basis.
With this being said, it is really a matter of responsible use, trust and knowledgeable judgment that contribute to having a beneficial relationship with an authorized user.
